Why are poker games played on ESPN?
I'd just like some opinions because I really think it's silly to turn on ESPN and see guys sitting around a table playing poker. I can understand why bowling and golfing are on ESPN...heck, I can understand why fishing is on ESPN...but poker? Please feel free to share your opinions! *I just asked this, but it got deleted... Matt c- I agree. Dart competitions are just silly. I'd have to say they're up there with the Poker World Series *lol*

- I would rather watch tiddlywinks than poker. It is kind of like soccer, OK in a way to play, but to watch? Watching the wind blow and a yawning contest are more exciting.
- I can see poker being played, because it's popular. TV stations need viewers to make money. What I want to know is why they show darts competitions on TV.
- I don't know why poker is on ESPN, but I have a question for you, if you don't like seeing Poker on ESPN, or maybe any TV station who said you have to watch it? This is a question that I ask when I see questions like this, not to much on these boards, but ever so often I would see a question , or soembody caliming to not like someting on TV, on http://www.imdb.com . I am not going to mention names. But Gretta you do have the option of not watching, if any time you happen to see a listing for Poker on ESPN, don't watch it, find something else to watch or something to do while it is on.
- $$$. That's why.
- Since ESPN began they have made it a point to show somewhat lesser known sports and entertainment on the network - after all, ESPN stands for Entertainment and Sports Programming Network. Fishing, Poker, Spelling Bees. They even show old AWA wrestling matches and American Gladiators on ESPN Classic. They know what people are watching and if we don't watch it, it won't last.
- it's no secret that ESPN jumps on any bandwagon that comes along. Poker got popular ESPN jumped on board. is it just me or does anyone else see see ESPN turning out to be like another once popular TV station................... remember when MTV actually had VIDEOS? will we be talking years from now about how ESPN use to actually show sports?
