- The answer: sort of. To win in the long run playing video poker you must learn to read payout tables and how to play the game perfectly. What you are looking for is a payout rate of over 100%, this can be determined by the payout schedule listed on the machine. Note that in any given casino you could have a machine that pays out 102% sitting right next to a machine that pays 98% therefore as a professional gambler you must be picky about which machines you are willing to play. To become a professional player you will also need to learn about the "Players Club" offered by the casinos. These clubs pay you cash and/or prizes for your play so they can add to winnings when you are playing on a more than 100% payback machine or substitute winning rate when playing a machine that pays less than 100%. You will also need to deny any "hunches" at the machines and play a mathematically perfect game. This can be done through practice with Video Poker training software the most popular of which is put out by Bob Dancer. Below is some links to the books, software, and websites you would need to become a winning video poker player. Please note that these "full pay" or better machines are not found online (if anyone has seen such a thing please reply!) You will need to go to a brick and mortar casino to find these and profit from the comp systems offered. For anyone reading this thinking this is easy money, to become a professional gambler you must follow a mathematical strategy completely and often perfectly (without making mistakes) to show a profit. This is much more like a job and usually takes the fun and thrill out of gambling. Edit:To those below who say no game is beatable in the long term, this is a common misconception. When using a proper strategy a short list of games are beatable. This is backed up by wikipedia here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gambling#.22Beatable.22_casino_games
- No game in a casino played long enough will lead u to having a positive cash flow. The only decent chance u have of making a living playing cards is playing poker, and thats SLIM to NONE too. JAY
