  1. Pro's prefer 6 player tables. I normally play lose on the high stakes tables and tight on the low stakes tables. On the low stakes tables, people take chances a lot more because they do not lose as much, thus more fishing and bad plays.
  2. key is playing the player not the cards, play tight especially against loose players, and play aggressive against tight players
  3. The best strategy is being aggressive if you are going for the win (Tournaments). The previous answers were more or less correct for Casino play.
  4. mmmm....... if i were you i would bluff my way through the game.... it all depends on who u r playing... and how bad your hand is... if you get a really bad hand fold sooner rather than later... if you get a good hand then i would go all in just to scrae the other people in the game.... was i any help?...
  5. The best cash game strategy is to play tight...only play high connecters or suited high cards....also, be aware of your position...it is ok to limp in with 8-9 or 9-10 if it's half price (small blind) or an inexpensive first call but if you don't hit the flop get the hell out......look around on the table and count your outs....your chances on a 6 player table are definatley better then with 9....good luck source: 15 years of playing hold'em
  6. It all depends on the type of people I am playing with. I will always start out fairly tight. If I am at a table with a bunch of rookies who I can tell are afraid of big bets, then I will become aggressive and raise them every chance I get. If I have a bunch of lunatic players that bluff a lot and have a lot of money they are throwing around, then I will pick my spot and check-raise them. You will win more pots at a 6-player table because you will see more flops and pay more blinds. But I prefer a 9 or 10 player table. The more people the better. With a 9 person table you almost always have someone with a big hand out there (AK, AQ, JJ, QQ). I like to see flops in cash games with a suited 2-3 or a suited 4-6. Those small cards are known as Ace-crackers because they can take down some of those monster hands. There are many different strategies when playing poker. That is what makes it such a great game. Good luck!
  7. I play tight aggressive. I only play select hands, and base what cards I'll play on my opponents' ability and how tight/loose they are, my table position, and the size of my stack. I'll vary my play from time to time, throwing out some bluffs and buying pots when I'm in late position and the rest of the table is showing weakness in a particular hand. If I had to guess, I'd say that about 1/4-1/3 of the pots I win on a given night, I don't have the best hand but I bet it hard enough to chase people who have better hands, but they don't have the nuts so they can't call an aggressive bet. If I'm against a bunch of weak players who are calling stations, I don't bother trying this though, since I know that they'll call with just about anything. In that case I wait until I have the nuts and let them hand me their money. The 2 most important things you have to do to play winning poker is be patient until you have something you can push ahrd with, then go for it.
  8. I like full ring games such as 9 or 10 players. To specify whether I play tight or loose specifically is hard to say, because to beat a table you do have to adapt to it. I would say I am a tight aggressive player most of the time, waiting patiently for people to make mistakes then pouncing. I do enjoy playing at a once full table that dwindles to 6 or less players especially when those players are loose. It always seems to become profitable for me. -pokergob.com
  9. It really depends. It's not about having "the" strategy to use at all times. You're playing against people, remember, and every person is different. Just like you can't expect to have the same conversation with everyone and expect everyone to react the same way, the best thing to do is to adjust to the situation. If you're at a table with weak-tight players (players who rarely raise and often fold), then it's okay to loosen up and bluff and steal more pots. If you're at a table with looser players, then you generally want to play tighter and wait for good hands to trap them with, especially if they're aggressive. Again, you're playing against PEOPLE, not a video game, so the chances of winning DO NOT depend on how many players are at your table. The chances of winning depend on little more than how well you ADJUST. So it's a matter of figuring out what style of play are you best at. Are you a loose-aggressive player? Then play tight-weak tables. Are you a tight/conservative player? Then play loose tables. So to answer your question about number of players; the fewer the players, the more important it is to play loose (because the blinds will reach you much faster, so you will start bleeding chips more quickly if you dont play).
  10. Hi, Jack N. I'm guessing that you mean Texas Hold'em strategy. From my experience you need to adjust to the table image , if the table image is loose-aggressive you need to play tighter, if you table image is tight , play looser and bluff more often . It's hard to answer on your 6,9 players question, it's depends on you, the 6 players table is more aggressive and loose , most of the time , if you can deal with these players it can be profitable ... 11. Patience. The blinds will not kill you in a game. Your chances of winning are greater in a 6 player game but the reward of winning in a 9 player game is larger if you win.
