  1. I'm pretty sure their's more than one type of poker. But all rules apply in terms of winning. In texas hold'em, you get 2 cards and try to win your hand by looking at the ones placed on the table. Those other stud games like 5 card stud or 7 card involve the same thing, just more cards in your hand and none on the table. You basically anty (place a requiring starting bet) and then receive your cards. To win, you gotta have the highest hand. Here's a quick explanation of winning hands. Not to sure if their ordered right from least to highest though. A pair: 2 of the same number card, higher the number the better 3 of a kind: 3 of the same number card 4 of a kind: 4 of the same number card Flush: All suits are the same for 5 cards (5 heart cards) Full house: 3 cards the same, and an additional 2 cards the same. (ex. 3 queens and 2 eights) Straight: 5 cards going in consecutive order ( 1,2,3,4,5 ) Royal Flush: Hardest to get, but highest. All cards in consecutive order by having a 10, jack, queen, king, ace. All cards are of the same suit. You pwn basically. Hope I helped, and I'm sure I left something out but you get it generally I hope.
  2. okay i want to make this easier for everyone google it or buy a video game and it shows step by step
  3. Any poker game, with the exception of blackjack, is basically played the same. The cards may be dealt in a specific order depending on what game you are playing (Texas Hold em, 5 Card Stud, 7 card stud, etc), but you make the best hand you card out of five cards. Even if 7 are dealt, you still only get to use 5 to make the best hand. The links below explains the rank of hands. In most games, all players ante into the 'pot' (usually the middle of the table) which is a beginning bid before the cards are dealt. Deal is left to right, and the first player that is dealt a card may bet. You don't have to bet, you can check (pass), but the next player, or any after, may bet. If anyone after you in that round bets, you must match it to continue. Any player, on their turn, can raise, which is adding an additional amount to the bet, and all players (including the the first to bet and those after) must meet this amount to continue. (if player one bets $1, player two puts in their $1, and player three raises $1, then they put in $2, so does the next. When it gets back to player one, they have to add $1, as does player two) You may fold at any time - you lay your cards face down, and you are out of that hand. You do not get any more cards or put any money in the pot. This continues until all cards are dealt (depending on if it's 5 for each or 7 or whatever) and the last player that placed a bet, or raised, then shows their cards. See the link below for rank of hands, (which hands beat which others). Who ever wins the hand gathers all the money played into the pot, and a new hand is started. Deal is left to right also. There are a variety of poker games, the link below lists some. Good luck and have fun! I hope this was helpful.
  4. The answers so far are good. I would also suggest visiting http://www.InternetPokerBonuses.com there you can get free expert poker advice. They also have a hand ranking guide and a poker dictionary.
