How to play Poker?
I've always wanted to play poker but have never had the time to look up types and how to play. Do any of you have an easy type of poker and how to play?

- Texas Hold'em Texas Hold'em (usually shortened to just Holdem) is the most popular poker game. It can be played Limit, Pot Limit or No Limit, with somewhat different strategies for each. Texas Holdem is a community card game where players are each dealt two cards while sharing five common cards. The player who stays in the pot until the end and combines their cards with the community ones to make the best five card hand wins, unless no one calls in which case the only remain hand wins. I believe holdem is very easy, all you have to learn is to know the poker hands such as full house, 2 pairs, straight, flush and stuff. Highest hand to lowest Royal Flush - 10,J,Q,K,A (same suit) Straight Flush - any 5 continues cards (same suit) 4 of a kind - 4 same cards + 1 random card full house - 3 same cards + 1 pair of anycard straight - 5 continues cards Three of a kind - 3 same cards 2 pair - 2 pairs of cards + 1 random cards. - Like most forms of gambling, most poker games can be learnt in minutes. Their all pretty straight forward in terms of rules. Try No Limit Holdem seeing as its the most popular form of poker these days. Omaha is another variation that is also becoming popular. If you don't have some degenerate gambling friends to organise a home game, you can always learn on one of the online poker sites. Most of them have free play, so new players can practice. But the interesting thing about NLH is that the rules are easy but its a very very complicated game... theres really no end to the amount of strategizing and thinking you can end up doing. But you can still have fun being a maniac gambler. Its a really flexible game that ive been addicted to hand for hand hour for hour. :) Anywayz see how you go. Try it out and if you like it theres tonz of advice on the web to help you get better. You can find the formal rules if you visit any poker site (if your lazy heres a link http://gamblershandbook.net/gamble/poker/how_to_play_holdem_poker.html ).
- Hi when i started to play poker i used a poker calculator. This software tells you what you need to do. So you can learn while you play.
- Poker is such a complex game, it would be hard to explain the whole game in a short answer, but there are many books which will tell you how to play, plus poker strategy. If I had to recommend any books, they would be: Phil Gordon's Little Green Book, Phil Gordon's Little Red Book, Phil Gordon's Little Black Book, Harrington on Hold'em Vol.1&2, and/or Supersytem by Doyle Brunson. Once you get the hang of how to play poker, and start getting serious about playing, I think you should look at Mike Caro's Book of Poker Tells. It will provide you with very important information on how to read your opponent. I hope this answer will help you get to the level of poker in which you want to play.
