How to Play Poker Videos

So how can Doyle Brunson run an Online Casino without the FBI on his back?

1.) Doyle Brunson is the biggest, most high-profile name in poker. 2.) Internet gambling with an American clientele is illegal, so much so owner/operators of online casinos have been arrested right at the airport coming into the country. 3.) Yet Brunson, living in the U.S. and promoting a site that takes American accounts (his name is on it, as if we can't make this any more obvious), hasn't seen the inside of a jail cell. What gives?

  1. The game of poker or playing poker hasn't been outlawed. What the U.S. government did was to put a law onto the books that makes it very difficult to deposit funds into or withdraw funds out of the poker sites. Without going into the details(mainly because I don't what they are), the government has made it illegal for U.S. banks to participate in the transfer of funds for these sites and so the alternatives have made it hard for the smaller poker sites to make a go of it. However sites like Full Tilt Poker, Pokerstars and a few others have decided to continue doing business, and are doing so in a legal manner.
  2. Besides, Doyle has nothing to do with Doylesroom....he's just the face of the site. He receives his endorsement check each month and thats it. He has nothing to do with the day to day operations. On a side note, Doylesroom was imho the best site out there before it banned US players. Now it really sucks. It's changed for the worst.
  3. Online poker is not illegal in the US, although operating such a site would be illegal. The site in question is not owned by Doyle Brunson and is operated in a foreign country. He is just the face of the site. In the same way that the woman with the unibrow on the Garmin commercials is not the owner of Garmin. My guess as to how it is legal is that Brunson gets a check for allowing his face and name to be used on the site. It is certainly not illegal for a person to advertise for a web site, even if it is a gambling one. But really, what does it matter? America has taken a completely retarded stance to online gambling and the sooner it is reformed the better. I'm glad a poker icon like Brunson is prepared to put his name out there and support online poker sites. We live in a supposedly free country. Yet fanatical right wing extremists like Bill Frist want to control how we spend our money. Well guess what, it's our money and there should be no government interference if we want to play poker on the Internet. The joke is the Republican party are so corrupt that the anti-gambling bill they snuck into an unrelated bill last year actually opened the door completely for online horse betting. So now Americans are free to gamble thousands of dollars betting the horses, but other types of gambling have unreasonable restrictions. In a country where all but two or three states have some form of legalized gambling, it is rediculous to try and ban online gambling. The law is completely unenforceable, and there is no rational or logical reason for even trying. If the government want to play nanny state, they should give us all world class free health care, or ban smoking or fast food. But no one wants a nanny state, so the government should do what the people want, and butt out of our business.
