Holdem fan. What are the differences between strategy of real vs on line poker.?
I have played poker for 35 years. In the Navy and a lot of Saturday night frinds games with 5 or 6 people. I have recently started playing Holdem on line and people react differently with play money but there are players that have millions on line. First how do they get that much money especially in YAHOO holdem at $1.00/$2.00. there isnt enough hours in a life to do it by my calculations. Yahoo seems to bet bet bet before the flop to raise the pot and I dont play there any more, plus the people are rude. Poker stars and Full tilt: I just started a week ago at full tilt poker.org I played in the 5/10 format until last night and being new to Holdem I studied the advanced tips in How it works .com. These rules dont apply at the 5/10 level. Last night I went to the $50/100 tables and kicked their butts. $7,000 in 1-1/2 hours. I'm more used to the 5 and 6 player format that allows you to bluff with out (Capt. Stay alot) ruining your game. Need hyper links to tips.

- First off, play money poker is not actually poker. They people playing it generally have no clue as to how to play poker, hand selection, etc. Basically, if you want to accumulate chips, just tighten up a bit and play premium hands- they will pay you off since they don't know better. When you switch to real money games, I've found that a half size pot bet (at low stakes) gets little to no respect. You probably should pick up the Full Tilt Poker Tournament Strategy guide- there is a chapter in there about online tournaments and how you need to adjust your strategy.
- first thing to note is that you are playing for play money, and people do not care when actual money is not being used...so you have to adjust to the fact that people play exceptionally badly at play money games, i would suggest attempting real money games if you intend on playing serious in my opinion, you do not really need to adjust your overall strategy when playing online, you just need to react to the fact that people play differently...people are not as afraid to bluff since they don't have to put the actual money in the pot, and in general the play is looser, and also you will take more bad beats, since so many hands are being played, requiring you to be able to maintain your composure better...these are the major differences, but i don't see why you need to adjust your wholescale strategy
