How to Play Poker Videos

PokerStars - how is this scenario fair?

I was on a play money table. I had pocket kings. Before the flop, before my turn came, three people with more chips than me had already gone all in, so I went all-in too, for 1000 chips. A total of six people ended up all-in. After the river, there were two 5's on the table, a 6, a 10, and an ace. The pot was over 20,000 The winner had three 5's. He got only 1200 chips, as he didn't have much to put in to start with. The side pot worth 19,000 went to a guy with 2 pair - 6's and 5's. I got nothing, with 2 pair - kings and 5's, even though I put in 1000 chips into the pot. I was expecting at least 5000 or 6000 given how many people went all-in. Has anyone seen anything like this happen on PokerStars? Has this happened on a real money table? Is there some unknown rule that I should know about? Thanks. read the question before answering, prole you idiot.

  1. Why do I think you are being sarcastic. Play money , it happens every time . Play real money if you want to play real poker.
  2. It's not fair, assuming you're not leaving out any important details. If the winner got 1200 chips with six players then he went all in with 200. So when everybody else called there would have been 5 players in for an additional 800, assuming you were on the short stack, for a first side pot of 4000 chips. That's the part that you were capable of winning, as you can't win more than you have. The remaining 14,000 chips would have made up additional side pots. If the sixes and fives guy had the third best hand he should have won the 14,000 pot, you would have taken down the 4000 chip side pot, and the three fives would win the "main" pot. I would email pokerstars and ask them this question. If it happened as you described then they have a serious bug in their program. But more likely than that (and I'm not ripping on you here) you missed an important detail. If kings and fives were the second best hand on the table, and the best hand was limited to the main pot, then you should have won the first side pot. If you remember the table number, game number, time, etc. then if will make it a lot easier for them to give you an answer. Good luck.
  3. Obviously you bet the same as the player with the full house, and the guy who took the side pot bet over both of you.
  4. Are you sure there wasn't a flush?
