How to meet the Poker Pros?

Ok, here's my situation. My husband's birthday is coming up in September and he's totally in a poker phase right now and I really wanna do something special for his b'day that has to do with poker. I don't know if "normal" people can get tickets or something to get in the Audience of those pokergames in Atlantic City or something or if they let only those people in to watch, who belong to the players. I wanna take him to one of those games so that he also maybe has a chance to talk to the "big players" like Daniel Negreanu. Please help me and give me some advice what to do and how to do it. Thanx

  1. Here is the WSOP's Event Calendar. September is not updated yet, but should be shortly. http://www.worldseriesofpoker.com/events/eventcalendar.sps
  2. go to one of the games da
  3. Casinos will sell tickets to the general public for featured tables and final tables. These tickets generally sell out pretty fast and seating is limited, but are just like buying tickets to other shows.
  4. As a poker player, I wouldn't think going to one of these final table events is a big deal, in my opinion. As a poker player, i would be thrilled at any of these gifts: A trip to vegas A poker chip and card set (if he plays with friends a lot) really cool sunglasses You could open up an Online Poker account Get him a cool poker T-shirt (mine says "How Big's Your Kicker?" just some other ideas.... Good Luck, and btw your pic is super cute
  5. just because he idolises these people doesnt meen he wants to meet them the best thing you can do is take him to a trip to these casinos and try to enter him into one of the satellite tournaments for the wsop this is his best chance for meeting daniel negrenue the way he wants to he doesnt want to meet him he wants to sit at a poker table across from him and see if he can hang with the big boys all these pros play in the wsop so as i said get him into a satellite tornament for the main event
  6. in vegas u can usually just get in if there is empty seating.... it might not be the one on tv, but they always have tournaments where pros are, check WSOP and check the events, usually you can just get into it, i did when i was in vegas and met a couple pros there
  7. I have been playing poker for a number of years. I am highly involved in the game. I should have a good understanding of what your hubby would really enjoy. My first idea could work out great for you and him both. It's a special cruise for poker players. They have quite a few every year. The next one comes in October in the Caribbean. They will have famous players and poker authors on board. They will be holding seminars aboard this cruise given by some of the best experts on the subject in the world. He and possibly you will also be able to enjoy the great atmosphere of the caribbean. There are also the normal cool things you would expect aboard the ship beside just playing poker and learnig poker. Prices start at $710 dollars. If your hubby is into poker, this would be a trip of a life time for him. You would also enjoy it I would think. You should drop them an e-mail to find out if Daniel Negreanu will be going to this one. He may very well be there. Visit their site at http://www.cardplayercruises.com/ A great DVD that you could get him is "World Poker Conference 2004". I've watched a lot of poker educational DVD's. This is probably the best one out there. Daniel Negreanu gives some pretty darn good tournament advice. One of the best places to buy poker books or DVD's is at http://www.gamblersbook.com .They are the Gamblers Book Shop. They have been around a while and have a land based store in Vegas. Amazon is pretty good too, but Gamblers Book Shop carries a few titles that they don't. A good educational book is Professional Poker by Mark Blade. A good entertaining poker book is Poker Wisdom of a Champion by Doyle Brunson. He has a lot of entertaining stories to tell from all those decades of playing poker. http://www.amazon.com has a good selection of poker shirts, chips, and other poker related items. You just have to do some searching around. You can also go to wherever the biggest tournament is at at the time to find the big name players. Go to http://www.cardplayer.com to search for upcoming events. I'm not sure when you would want to leave or I would provide you with the proper information. Visit a big name player's website and e-mail them. You could easily make arrangements to mail them a poker chip that I'm sure most of them would gladly sign and mail back to you. You may even be able to arrange a lunch or something with them. There are lots of things you could do for him, but I would highly recommend the Card Player Cruise if the money isn't a problem for you. Also, if need be. Visit http://www.twoplustwo.com for a forum composed of lots of poker players who could give you even more advice.
  8. Gambling is bad!!
  9. A good idea i know of is send him to a fantasy camp. Here in Vegas they put on these camps where you are schooled by some big pros like Phil helmuth and mike sexston. They are expensive and space is limited, but you get hands on experience for two full days with real pros.
