  1. ivey plays to rep the black people
  2. i personally think he does it partly for enjoyment, and partly for money. I also think he does it because he can, since he's gotten to the final table so many times but never won
  3. Ivey does it to compete with himself. If you watch him, he obviously loves the game and takes it very seriously. However, he doesn't strike me as one of those types that just likes to see himself on TV like many of the other pros apparently are. He's been quoted as saying he wants to eventually win 50 bracelets, and I think that's a personal challenge to himself to do so. Obviously, he's already famous and very wealthy, but I think he was already fairly wealthy before he got into the game, because he's never cared about the money. I don't think he's representing a race, either, he's representing himself. He's one of the few pros I can honestly say that I respect, because his game is constantly solid and he's one of the best at reading people and playing bluffs and changes his game just enough that it's near impossible to get a read on him. Contrast that with a lot of other pros, who play the same tired game and have the same mannerisms and ticks and tells and never correct them.
