How to Play Poker Videos

If I have been a professional poker player for a year, should I include it for a finance job on my resume?

I'm a finance major from a very good college. For the past year, I was a high limit poker player in Las Vegas. Is it wise for me to include this on my resume when applying for finance related jobs?

  1. Ummm, only if you want to continue to collect unemployment. I would hire an excon who was convicted of murder for a finance job before I would hire a gambler, professional or otherwise. If you DO include it, you might refer to it as day trading.
  2. No; however, be prepared to explain the gap in employment during an interview.
  3. My gut instinct tells me no. Financial companies are usually pretty conservative in their thinking. Discuss it at the interview if it comes up.
  4. As most finance company's rely on gambling ,you will be welcomed like the prodigal son.
