Should poker be televised?
I have nothing against the game, but seeing it on tv makes me wonder who watches it and why. Especially with ESPN... its definitely not a sport! Golf, bowling and NASCAR are bad enough, but poker? I hear dominoes is becoming televised as a sport too. Why?

- not that i WATCH it but i have plenty of friends that do watch it---now whether it shoudl be televised on a sports channel is a different issue i don't see why it should be--but maybe a poker lover can explain why it's a 'sport'
- Yes, i watch it occasionally
- Poker hit its peak during the NHL Player's strike, where TV sets were turned to poker instead of hockey. Now that hockey's back, there's no real room for poker as a televised sport. There are better ways to see players outthink each other.
- Poker mostly holdem has become the hottest new craze among most americans. ten years ago the poker tournaments had only a few hundred entrants now its in the thousands, and theres big money to be made if youre good. sure it isnt football and basket ball but it is a game of strategy and deception. now it has come to a point that there is a select few who are more skilled at gambling and have become stars, or pros. the biggest draw has to be how anyone off the street has a chance at being the biggest star of the event.
- Heck Yea..............Your not into it, that is why you cant understand its much more than a card game.....its a mind game.....it tests your endurance, patience, keeps the mind active more than any physical sport can. RGV ROUNDERS all day baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- I think it's pretty boring to watch... I have no idea why things like this and dominoes are televised. It's ridiculous.
- Why not? There are a lot more things in tv that I would ask "should it be televised" more than poker. People need to understand that just because you dont enjoy somthing doesn't mean other people dont. If it bores you, dont watch it!
- ESPN is in the business of airing pretty much anything but sports these days ... poker, spelling bees, and all sorts of other bizarre stuff.
- as long as there is a market for it poker will be televised ive seen werided things on tv but to espn's credit they have moved most of it to espn 2
- It is a good cure for insomnia.
- It's still better than televising chess!!!!
