Is ESPN turning their back on boxing?

First off im not really into boxing. But after watching ESPN today it seems like their faith in boxing is going down because of the popularity of ultimate fighting. They had joe Rogan on and Chuck liddel, even on espn news the banner was about the liddel weigh in. Maybe ESPN i jumping on the bandwagon like most other networks did for poker.

  1. No, boxing suck MMA is the way to go.
  2. All the hype is about the the fight this Saturday between Liddell and Jackson, thats all.
  3. just like MTV turned it's back on music, ESPN will ultimately turn it's back on REAL sports! I saw a spelling bee the other day, what's next Tiddly Winks!!!!
  4. Hopefully every network turns their back on boxing. Its a corrupt sport. Promoters have ruined the sport for years by focusing 100% on money on not fans. I can remember the turning point for me when I stopped watching boxing. A few years back, I remember Ruiz losing a decision to Holyfield. Ruiz beat Holyfield like he owed him money, and shouldn't have won a single round. Yet somehow Evander got the decision. Either the fight was fixed or the judges were idiots. Either way, it was so bad it turned me off the sport. Until the sport of boxing can get its act together I hope more networks turn their nack on the sport. It is well deserved.
  5. Well theyre not exactly turning their backs but UFC is up and coming and to be honest is more exciting to watch then boxing becasue theyre is no bitching around if the fighters are tired and theyre is fighting and grappling all the time in UFC
  6. No I don't think so. ESPN loves stirring controversy (I guess you could say that about any news network) I do think they are jumping on the UFC bandwagon, and for good reason! MMA is younger, fresher, and more exciting! For the next couple of years you can expect ESPN to keep instigating a controversy between MMA and boxing. Makes for good t.v!!! I thoroughly enjoyed todays devate!!
