I thought ESPN was a sports network...?
Looking ahead to this weekend, I see on ESPN and ESPN2 they are showing a dog show, poker and a hot dog eating contest. WTF? If that's the best they can do, go back to Australian Rules Football.
Public Comments
- At least show some cheerleader competitions to go with all that garbage.
- man i miss those guys in the bear bryant hats that came out and brought their hands up and down like they were drawing guns on the teams, lol
- What do you classify as a sport? I know it is hard to believe but their are more "sports" out there then football, baseball and basketball.
- Dont kid yourself pal, you gotta have some GUNS to restrain a Shitzu in full rut!
- Well they do get paid to show that stuff!
- The programs are "sold" time, where ESPN sells the air time and the company/league then is responsible to gain the sponsors to air the program (sadly, this is how the NHL operates in the U.S.). Back in the early years, the station would pick up tapes of Australian Rules Football and other events cheaply or next to nothing to fill time. Now, if you have a checkbook and sponsors, you can possibly get time on the network, in hopes the event will get more viewers because of the ESPN brand name.
