How to Play Poker Videos

Why is poker on TV? And who are the nitwits watching this garbage?

I mean, I watched this crap once, and it looked like Darwin's Waiting Room. And how can anyone consider card games a sport? Anything that fat guys are good at is not a sport. It's a total bunch of crap to put something like poker on ESPN and FSN. Skinny does not mean fit, my bottomfeeding "friend." I've seen a lot of guys who didn't appear to be fat because their idea of exercise was hitting the bottle. If it's here to stay, then a whole generation of degenerate gamblers is too. Gee, how fun.

Public Comments

  1. I always figured it was the same people who watch golf when it's not in season. Both terrifically exciting. NOT!!!
  2. It's no worse than: The jewelry channel The weather channel MTV The baby channel Court TV etc., etc., etc. It's all a matter of taste (or lack of it)
  3. Just because you don't think it's worth watching doesn't mean it doesn't have merit. I know some people who watch curling on TV. I don't care to watch it but I know someone does.
  4. ESPN can show the stupidest crap on TV that they consider sports. This coming from someone who watches ESPN, ESPNEWS, and ESPN2 almost all day long. ESPN makes a big deal out of the World Series of Poker every year and has their own commentators for it. I watched 5 minutes of it one time and it was HORRIBLE! If someone would rather watch people play poker on TV they seriously need to get a life. I love playing cards, drinking, and watching a good game or boxing match. But come on this is ridiculous!
  5. The same people who watch "scripted pro wrestling", golf, curling, spelling bee, dominoes, darts, cheerleading, paintball, chess, etc. Yes, ESPN has shown all these events, except the scripted wrestling. They won't even let the guy slam the last domino on the table and make them all fly off, the rotten meanies. Remember, the "E" in ESPN stands for entertainment. Someone finds it entertaining, they'll show it. I heard they are going to show the World Air Guitar championship durring the summer.
  6. Hey I like court tv because they show reruns of COPS which is like the best tv show ever lol. It all depends on what you like to do. I happen to enjoy paintball so if I see it on tv sometimes I will watch it. I like strategy, and sometimes watching other people or teams come up with something is exciting. Same with cards, I personally enjoy many card games including poker. I wont watch it all the time, but sometimes I like the WSOP. Its a good way to learn too. Sometimes its also kinda fun to see someone win a $2 mill hand on a bluff. But hey you watch what you like and Ill watch what I like.
  7. I've wondered the same thing myself and I totally agree with you. Poker is not a sport. It really has no place being on ESPN, ESPN 2, or FSN. It is a game, not a sport.
  8. if you don't like it don't watch it i dont watch anything i dont want to watch
  9. Poker is on TV beause it is cheap television. The low cost of these productions suit the networks to a 't' when compared to giving the viewer anything where a bit of physical action involved. Put Poker on Pay-TV...then you'd soon see how popular it is....or not!
  10. You obviously have no idea of how much mental power it takes to play the game of poker well. Ratings for these poker shows are huge, so a large number of people like to watch them, so you are in the minority my friend. Did you know that over 150 million Americans play poker at least once a week. You shouldn't judge something that you don't know anything about. Also most of the top pros in hold em are pretty fit, and i don't think it is any coincidence. If you don't like it then you should go watch something else that you like. This poker boom is good for all poker players, it means more money and more fish out there for better players. 10 Years ago if there was a million dollar prize pool it would have made the news, but now you have so many big events it's not even funny. Poker is here to stay, so get used to it.
