  1. http://www.worldpokertour.com/academy/learntoplay/?x=howtoplay Good luck.
  2. Play online first. They have practice tables. Or just play with friends they can give you the rules, tips and no hows of poker. Plus theres little pressure. **Online you learn the game rules but when you play against real people thats when you really learn the game. You have to read how people play-that is the key. good luck
  3. play on-line in play money rooms Bodog is good
  4. There are many web sites that have information (like the one in this link). Learn the basics of the game, and then go to one of the poker web sites and play for free using 'play money.' Then start to read the more advanced lessons and buy some books.
  5. the best way to learn is to play...many software programes out there thta does teach and many websites also thta teach
  6. You have to play to learn... just go online and play for play money. And also read read read... read anything that has to do with poker.
  7. I know your question is how to learn without actually playing, but the best way to learn is to play. You don't have to play for money to learn how. I would suggest playing in freeroll tournaments online. Freerolls are free, but you can win real money in them. Other than that, I would search the internet for guides on how to play and read poker books. Here is a daily schedule of freerolls:
  8. Pretty much what everyone else has said. There are tons of sites which offer play money (like Yahoo games and Pogo). You can play fixed limit (where you can only bet a fixed amount) or no limit (you can bet any amount you want, up to all your chips). Those are great ways to practice. But I recommend studying up on the style you want to learn a little before you play. If you have no idea what hand rankings are, or what the best starting hands are, or what pot odds or odds in general are, do some research. Then use your knowledge and start practicing. That's what I did. I kept winning at play money sites, so I switched over to real money and so far I'm making a profit (albeit a small one), even though I just started a month ago. Freeroll tournaments are also great cuz they cost nothing and you could win a small amount of money. It's pretty hard though, so don't take it too hard if you don't make anything; I consider freerolls more for practice than anything else.
