Question about online poker...?
Ok, so I haven't ever used any programs like Texas Calculatem before, and I've played online poker for like 2-3 years now, and played offline poker for about 4-5 years. Anyway, is Texas Calculatem a no no, so to say, for online poker rooms? My friend showed it to me, and looked pretty cool. Haven't used it in any real money rooms, as it is a big advantage, and I don't know if it is allowed. Tried it in play money though, and I do like it for the fact it calculates percentages. Like the percentage your hand will win over another players, or the percentage of you getting a pair, or straight, etc. I really could careless for it's opinions it gives you, on what hands to call, fold, or raise. It just sucks in that department, to say the least. Of course you have to set it to your likings first, but I have only used it 3-4 times. But anyway, my question is, are Texas Calculatem, and programs alike legal for online poker? Thanks for the help, Matt Most of the sites, like www.texascalculatem.com, and www.pokerbility.com, all say they are partnered with different poker sites, and they give promotional codes to get their software for free. In this case, it would be allowed right?

- Yup, those are totally allowed. They are not prohibited nor are they considered cheating. In fact,a lot of poker rooms promote that kind of software, or even offer their own RIGHT on the site. Why more people don't take advantage I have no idea. In truth, it's not really even a cheat, just an assistant for novices or those whose math isn't that quick (after all, you don't have as much time to add up probabilities online as you do in live games). I use poker office, which doesn't calculate your odds of winning, but it calculates pot odds and odds of improving your hand, plus it ranks your current hand against other possible hands (thus the second best full house would be ranked 2, only beatable by a four of a kind) and keeps track of your opponents and how they have played. Another thing you can do on many online poker rooms which is actually cheating, in a sense, is look at your opponents hands after they have won, even if they choose not to show their cards. Just request a hand history and you will be show every winning hand that was dealt. You can learn how your opponents play from this. It's a useful feature which I am personally against, but if it's there, might as well use it.
- Yup like a number of poker tools its OK to use this whilst playing online. No such aids are allowed in casinos though.
