  7. Go to Cardplayer.com. They are the best poker magazine in the business. If you go into any major poker casino, you will find them.
  8. The other answerers have directed you to good links/books which I would definitely look into. What I'm going to do instead is give the order of hands in poker. Memorizing this list is an essential part of learning the game. There's a lot more to poker than memorizing this list, but this will give you a place to start. Best hand: the royal flush -- A/K/Q/J/T of the same suit. Next: the straight flush -- 5 cards in sequence of the same suit, such as 5/6/7/8/9 of hearts. Next: four of a kind, such as four queens. Next: a full house -- three of a kind and a pair, together. Example: 9/9/9/4/4. Next: a flush -- five cards of the same suit (five diamonds, for example). Next: a straight -- all five cards in sequence, such as 2/3/4/5/6. Next: three of a kind (called a "set"), such as three aces. Next: two pair (ex.: J/J/7/7/2). Next: one pair, such as two sixes. Lastly, no pair -- also known as a "high card" hand.
