How to Play Poker Videos

My sister caught the pneomonia virus from playing poker with strangers.?

Now she told me she is going to get the vaccine so she doesn't ever get it again. It was very painful for her and she doesn't want to catch it again. If she already had it, why would she need a vaccine? I would think she would never get it again, especially since she is not going to play cards much anymore and when she does she is using a germ killer on her hands. Do you feel she should still get the vaccine? Also, she told me to get it, but I am 71 years old and never had it so far. Also, she said you just need to get it once. Don't you have to get it every 5 years, She is 74 years old.

  1. The Vaccine is only good at "fighting" the kind of pneumonia that can kill you. It doesn't mean she will never get pneumonia again. Older people are encouraged to get the vaccine, because they have a harder time fighting it off. I would talk to your doctor and see what he/she suggests before you get the vaccine because with all vaccines there are risks involved. Its like the getting a flu shot, but you only have to get it every 5 to 7 years instead of every year.
  2. According to http://www.cdc.gov/nip/publications/VIS/vis-ppv.pdf they recommend the vaccine for any child over 2 that has sickness like leukemia and any senior over 65. It guards against 23 different types of pneumonia. get more information at that site. ps. it says you only have to take it once for life with a possible booster shot under certain circumstances.
  3. The pneumo vax is recommended for all men and women your age. It's essentially a lifetime vaccine. One dose is all. Having had pneumonia once doesn't make you immune.
  4. You should get the vaccine. In fact it is surprising that your doctor didn't recommend it to you long ago. It can make the difference between living and dying
