poker question?
so me and a friend are playing poker. we bet until we showed our cards.the suits didnt matter. he had 2,9. i had 2,5. the 5 community cards were 10,queen,king,2, and six. so we both had a pair of twos, but he said his nine kicker was better than my 5 kicker. but i thought that didn't matter. since u can use 5 cards. we'd both use the pair of twos, and queen, king ,ten. am i right we would tie, or is he right that he won? im pretty sure it was a tie. only people answer who are 100% sure oh yeah were playing texas hold em

- It should have been a tie becasue you only can use 5 cards.
- You are correct. In Texas Hold 'em, it's the best five cards that win. Sometimes the best 5 cards end up being the community cards. Then eveyone who is "in the hand" splits the pot. In you case, you would have a split pot - meaning that the winning hand is 2-2-K-Q-10.
- You were right you should have had a split pot. It is the best 5 card hand, it doesn't matter where those five cards come from. http://www.theultimatepokerguide.com has a similar example in its Hold Em Rules section.
- Yup this is a split pot, it is always the best 5 cards out of the 7, so you can play the board cards for your kicker.
