5 Card Draw question?
I've been playing a regular $4 and $5 5 Card Draw FL tournie on poker stars and, although I have been able to make it ITM consistently, I have only made the final table once. There are no antes, so the blinds and stakes go up extremely fast (I've dropped from 3rd to 18th in one hand once). All the tournies are short handed (6 max). I'm wondering; what hands are playable and not playable from early, middle and late positions? Considering that at the beginning stage of these tournies the most a single hand can cost you only up to 10% up your chips while at the ITM stage it can cost you all of them, do certain hands become less (or more) playable?

- Seriously, no one plays five card draw any more gramps. Just play Hold'em. There are far more resources and books out there surrounding that game, and plenty of fish to take money from. Playing five card draw limits you significantly and many sites don't even spread the game. Even sites that do are only going to have limited options with what you can play.
- i agree with ztc
- I don't really play 5 card draw, but I believe Super Systems 1 (not 2) has a draw poker section written by Mike Caro. I'm sure there are other books out there as well, they're just harder to find than hold-em books. And don't listen to those other guys. Play what you like and have fun. Good luck.
- honestly, i have to say that this is far too advanced a question for almost anyone in the world to answer because no one knows anything about or has studied 5 card draw...that game went out of the light so long ago, and there is almost zero info on the game anywhere...as vegas matt said, there is the section of SS1, but other than that the info is scarce but if you enjoy playing that game, and want to be educated about it, i'm sure you're already miles ahead of most people because the game is so obscure...so go ahead and play it if you want, but i am just saying that info and action are very hard to come by
