When playing 5 card poker and wild cards are in effect does 5 of a kind beat a royal flush?

  1. yes
  2. Yes. 5-of-a-kind becomes the best possible hand. As a house rule, my friends and I play that a natural royal flush beats 5-of-a-kind... though this is not the standard. (We put that rule in place because it happened in a hand - a natural royal flush was beaten by three of a kind + 2 wilds. We thought that was hardly fair (how many times in your life are you gonna pull a royal flush?), so we put that rule in our games.)
  3. Unless the rule was made that there were no five-of-a-kinds before you started to play then yes it does.
  4. that is something you must decide and set as rule whether it does or doesnt, there arent set rules appling to wild cards ,you must call which hands are better berfore you play
  5. no
  6. Yes ! royal flush beats poker, but 5 of a kind beat royal flush!
  7. In traditional Poker Rulings, nothing beats a Royal Flush. In traditional poker, a 5 of a kind does not exist. These types of games have to be negotiated before you start playing. Establish the rules you are going to play by before you deal the cards.
  8. I thought it might but I checked Rules of Games, According to Hoyle, c 1963, and it confirms that in a game of poker in which a wild card is used, five of a kind beats a Royal Flush. Incedently, it does not matter how many cards you are dealt in a game of poker, you only play your best five, therefore, all poker games are of five cards. I realize that my book is old, but the rules of poker don't change only the games. Hands remain the same.
  9. No. There is also another situation that you might find interesting: if 2 players have exactly the same hand as far as ranks of cards is concerned, (for example one has a diamond royal flush and the other spade royal flush), the award goes to the higher ranking suit. The suits from #1 to #4 : Spades(beats Hearts) Hearts(beats Diamonds) Diamonds (beats Clubs) Clubs lose to all other suits.
  10. whenever you introduce wild cards into poker 5 of a kind then becomes the highest hand.
  11. No. The natural hands should still beat wild card hands and a royal flush beats any same card hand. For example your 5 of a kind with a wild card.
  12. I have had this dilemma before too. I had played in multiple house games and each time it seems as though the rules were different. However, most of the time when someone called a game with wilds it was called before the hand was dealt that five of a kind is best. Your best bet (no pun intended) is to make sure all the rules are clear before dealing the hand that way at the end no one gets shafted .
