Can you guys give me some good in depth strategy on short handed NL texas holdem play?
I know the basics like be agressive, top pair is often good, kickers are less important, raise or fold no calling preflop, etc. Some good articles would help 2 :) Anotehr good basic is that betting draws is better than in 9 handed. O btw i want specifically 6 handed.

- you basically covered most of what short-handed play is about, there are two major concepts that you didn't go over that i would like to (also, i am referring to cash games since most of your questions cover cash games): 1. opening your starting hand requirements...based on your opponents they will vary, but you can raise any pair, any two broadway cards, and any medium ace on a typical table, and add suited connectors on tables that aren't especially loose...you need to get more involved since there will be fewer good hands out against you 2. skill factor...when playing short-handed, there is much more skill involved, and you want to be more careful against better players when playing short than playing at a full table, because you will be heads-up more often than not and will be put at a major disadvantage...conversely, you want to go out of your way to play more hands against players you are better than, because you stand to make a lot of money off them as you can outplay them these are two concepts that you should add to your list of adjustments from ring games to short games
- First of all let me say that i agree with everything you said except the part about kickers. Kickers are important in a short game just as much as they are in a full game. In a short game i turn from a tight aggresive player, to a madman for the most-part, changing gears in a short game is very important as well as the amounts you bet become more important as well. You have to also know to adjust your hand values as well, in a short game you have to be willing to make more plays with hands like A-8. K-10, K-J, and Q-J, and before in a full game i would just limp in with small pairs, i now in a short game make big raises pre-flop. You have to also know when other people are on a move of there own, you will see more bluffing at a short table as well, so knowing when they are on a move, and having the will to make that big re-raise, to re-steal the pot can help add lots of chips to your stack. Since you are in the blinds every 2 out of every 6 or 7 hands, means more aggresive actions, and it means you will have to play weaker hands to keep from getting eaten up by the blinds and antes. Also keep an eye on the short stacks as well, they are going to be pushing all-in a lot in a short game, so if you have a weak hand and you think the short stack may go all-in, i would rather fold, then have to call of chips i don't want to, since i can't hope for a call and try and either bluff him or out-play him on the flop, i would have to call the all-in and i have to have the best hand here to win. I hope this helps a little bit.
