What does this poker quote mean by Daniel Negreanu?
Get into someones head, understand how they approch the game, they you play there tendencies

- learn how they think, learn how they play, patterns in betting. Basically he's saying he likes to know why his opponent plays poker: recreation, money, fun, etc. just my opinion.
- Understanding your opponents from their point of view. Loads of angles to this advice including betting patterns, their state of mind at the moment, what his bet sizes mean etc. For example, sometimes people always play their hand opposite to the strength, so when he bets huge and youve played the hand quite weak, ask yourself why would he bet pot size when its obvius ur hand is weak......might be a bluff.
- Can you tell when your best friend is lying? Or anyone else that you have known for awhile, is lying? A lot of the times, in All-In Texas Holdem Poker; YOU have to play the PLAYER not the CARDS. Good players like Daniel Negreanu remember other top players betting patterns or habits. And by remembering there habitual betting tendency, then he may a good chance of knowing if they are BLUFFING or lying about the strength of there hand. Daniels the man for that, plus he has great CARD READING abilities. Hope that helps.
- A simple answer: Understand not only what your opponent is doing, but why they're doing it. If you understand what they are doing, and what they want you to do, you're able to be one step ahead, and make the best plays possible. A poker rule of thumb: Figure out what your opponent wants you to do, then do the opposite.
