How do I avoid a slump when I play Poker?
When I play poker for roughly the first two hours I am a great player but then when I get a big stack of money in front of me I get bored and cocky, are there any suggestions to avoid falling into this trap, so far it has cost me a lot of reall money and potential winnings.

- Usually if im getting bored i just stop playing, when ever you don't put 100% effort in to your game stopping is better. Take an hours break and go for a run, when you get back your mind will be back on the game.
- 2 hours is good enough when you do good. When you feel getting bored and cocky you should stop playing and leave. And when you start again start with a low amount. Because in the back if your mind there is always "If i lose this, thats fine I have more money with me" Dont think like that, think of as you just came here with this amount as you usaully start and you need to win. So usaully just stop playing, a bored and a cocky player never wins.
- You have to learn to be consistent everytime you play. I use the Dynamic Point Count Strategy system to evalute starting hands, and this usually keeps me out of trouble, and when I find myself thinking I should play this one even though the point count does not justify it, I stop and take a break. Patience is the key!
- If you find that you have trouble focusing, you should set a time limit until you find that you can start focusing for longer. You could do that or set a threshold amount like "If my stack gets this high/this low I'll walk away." It's true that if you set threshold limits you will prevent yourself from making a huge winning, but if you find walking away at the right time hard, then maybe you should consider it.
