In poker is it better to play against americans then international in tournies?
My brother says that international players are more tight while americans are more loose but I don't know...

- That's a very sweeping generalization, and typically American. Do you really think that the 6Bn or so people on the planet who are not Americans all play poker the same way? Or for that matter, do you really think that all Americans play the same way? Is Phil Ivey the same player as Dan Harrington? In poker you just have to learn your opponents and play them accordingly. Taking generalizations to the table like that is only going to hurt you. Most good sites are going to feature non-American players, because all the sites are foreign thanks to the idiotic policies of George Bush that he signed into law in early 2007, making it illegal for American companies to operate online poker sites.
- Well I played poker before with everyone I say there is a difference.
- I just went to the WSOP event in Tunica and played with both Amer and internationals. The one thing I did notice was the euros seemed like they felt they were better than they were. The only international player that beat me was a guy from peurto rico that pulled quad 4s on me. Other than that i was beaten mainly by amer. Just to brag for one second I did knock Chris Moneymaker out of a $125 single table tournament
- I would say that "Americans" tend to be somewhat tougher. But "Americans" include foreign born players who relocated to Vegas to play professionally, and many immigrants who learned Poker in America, on their way to going Pro. Many of these players might not refer to themselves as Americans, because they are proud of their country of origin, hence the quotation marks above. Negreanu will always remind you that he's Canadian, for instance, and it's beginning to seem like any Vietnamese-American with the family name Nguyen has a free ride to poker superstardom. Also note, the players who travel internationally to play are going to be much better than the average player from their home country. Many of them are going to be the best players from their country. So, if 25 Danish players arrive in Vegas to play a big tourney, you can reckon you'll be facing some serious tough players (along with a few tourists and lucky satellite winners). But the "local" players are going to consist of a mix of top pros and a couple of hundred (or couple of thousand!) local chumps. Now, if you want to compare online play, that's a different story. For instance, if you get to play on an iPoker Network site like PaddyPowerPoker, you'll find that Europe is awash in braindead gamblers and random plungers. There are no softer games to be found in the U.S. anymore. The competitive level in the U.S.A. has toughened up over the years, and even the chumps are less chumpy than they used to be.
- I believe US players are more aggressive then Europeans who tenth to be more conservative and play tight.
