For those of you who play poker online for money, do you find that its almost impossible..?
to find anyone who plays 9 person sitngos with stakes higher than $10? I play primarily on Full Tilt and am finding it very frustratng that so few people play for higher stakes. I understand that no one has money to throw away, but playing high stakes poker is a business investment if you understand the dynamics of the game and know how to play. Is there a high stakes poker site that I am missing out on???? I came to Full Tilt because I heard it's where the pros play but I havn't seen many people playing for pro stakes. Thanks.

- yes. impossible. i'm afraid i don't know.
- I play at PokerStars and FullTilt, and when I want to play a single table S'n'G for more than $10 I sign up and then jump into a cash game. The higher the stakes the slower the table will take to fill up. Just have a little patience and grind out some pots in the ring game while waiting for your s'n'g to start. On many occasions I've won enough in the cash game to cover my entry fee for the s'n'g! Nothing beats a freeroll with only 9 people in it where you have the chance to win a hundred bucks or so!
- Start playing ring games on Full Tilt. I think there are a lot of popular high stakes cash games and even MTT's on Full Tilt. SnG's are a little more spotty as far as return on investment goes, anyway.
- Try Tigergaming. Not many fixed limit games but there is almost always a $100 No limit game going. BTW, the pros play in live games. They get paid for endorsements but dont play or very rarely play online. Right now there is too much great action in the live card rooms to waste your time playing online.
- If you are looking for Sit and Go's you should probably be playing at Poker Stars. With generally three times as many active players, the sit and gos fill up way quicker, and at higher stakes. Personally I rarely play any higher than $75 sit and gos, but at $55 and $75, I don't have to wait more than a few minutes for them to fill up. Of course I generally play in the evening, which may help. I've only played on Tilt for about a year, but I did get to play a pro one time. I was playing a 9 person $55 sit and go and got seated next to Steve Zolotow. I made it to heads up, and we got all in after going back and forth for about five minutes. His pocket threes beat my unimproved KTs. But like I said, if you want to play more than $100 on a sit and go, time to get on Poker Stars. Update: I totally disagree with what the guy above me said. Generally when these sites sign a pro up, they have an agreement that the pro will play so many hours per week on the site. I've seen Gus Hansen, Mike Matusow, and a host of slightly less well known pros play on Full Tilt all the time. Just look for games highlighted in red. On Poker Stars, there is even a menu option that lists where all the logged in pros are playing. I've seen Moneymaker and Raymer playing on there before. Update: I am playing on Poker Stars right now (9:10pm 12/1/07) and Negreneau is playing at five tables $25/$50. I just checked on Tilt and Chris Ferguson and Allen Cunningham are playing. See, it's not hard to find a pro.
- I agree with ZCT and have experienced the same. That aside, I have still found times when I've wanted to play and found that higher staked SnG's are either non-existent or the wait was excrutiatingly long. For those reasons I've spent time searching out alternatives. Because SnG's are situational and not scheduled there's no guarantee's however I've had pretty good fortune with AbsolutePoker as well. That said there has recently been some scandel attached to Absolutes' name and for that reason I wouldn't blame anyone for wanting to take a pass. I however, have kept an eye on that situation and believe that they have rectified the situation. Also there's another site that does little to promote itself and therefore hadn't come to my attention except by accident. It is called BetUsPoker and served primarily as a sportsbook. I can say from experience that they offer a large player base and frequent turnover of their SnG's including the higher staked games. Finally one other resource that has helped me time and again to find games when it seemed there were none and that would be the poker forums. There are several very good ones and they are populated with players like us. A lot of them offer "game tracker" filtered software that will hunt down the specific type of game you're interested in. I hope you've found this helpful and good luck!!
- I play on Absolute poker and we have played quite a few professionals in the tournaments. It usually takes a little longer for the higher stakes games to fill up but they usually do. Like to one guy said, jump into a cash game. Absolute also has quite a few higher entry tournaments playing and on average, 10-20 people play in them. I hate the lower enrty fee games too. Most people just jack around and go all-in because who cares if you lose $5-10 when you can get into another one immediately. Good Luck!!
- Pokerstars is the bigest poker room. I guess you would find more people playing high stakes there. As well i would offer to try new poker rooms, which yet didnt had any scandal :)
