Online Poker Sites are Rigged?

I've been browsing through the internet and have found numerous sites that claim that online poker is rigged. They give many different reasons to why it is rigged and show evidence of it. I.e The absolute poker scandal. Can anyone clarify if there has been any blatent rigging? http://www.pokerisrigged.com http://www.absolutepokerscandal.com/

  1. Well i guess it depends on the place you go to play. but then again you have to remeber now a days you cant really trust any thing that is said or played on the internet because of hackers and scamers. there is probibly some ligit places but who knows
  2. Let me point a few things out with both of those sites. The first one linked has banners to other gambling sites. Clearly, if they really think poker is rigged, they wouldn't have links to gambling sites, nor would they have a forum dedicated to gambling strategy. The second site you linked points to the well-known Absolute Poker Scandal. It devotes quite a few pages to the SAME content. And then it links you to a site that has a bunch of poker banners. Hmmm. Clearly the site owners have another agenda here. There's nothing wrong with promoting websites, but the way they go about it is pretty fishy if you ask me. Generally, the arguments for online poker being rigged don't make too much sense. A poker room has more to lose by rigging poker and getting caught than by standard play. Moreso, a poker room online can't make money when you have none in your account. They make money with rake and tournament fees, not when you lose your chips to another player. Making frequent deposits and using the site's payment processors regularly costs the site money, it's not very cost effective for you to be cashing in all the time! To be perfectly clear, there's no way to know for sure if poker is rigged, but the arguments for poker being rigged are longshots at best.
  3. Online poker is "rigged" only if you believe the following: The US Governement was the mastermind behind 9/11 and The world is flat. The Absolute scandal just showed what can be done if someone deep inside the company wants to steal from their customer base. Hell Pokerstars shows tournament replays with the hole cards showing so you know that someone can see the cards. 99.1% of the online players play at stakes so far below these that they have nothing to worry about. Play at the main sites- Full Tilt, Pokerstars, Party Poker and you don't have to worry
  4. You know I could open a site called "GTA4MakesMeHomocidal.com" It doesn't make it true. These web sites were not at all impressive. The first one appears to be a tiny little forum with members talking about anything but poker. I saw discussions about GTA4 and beer. The Absolute Poker site is a bit more interesting because it covers a genuine news story. AP did have a cheat, and he was one of the founders. But he was caught and action was taken. Similarly, I expect that in Vegas there have been members of staff who have stolen from hotel rooms. It doesn't mean Vegas is corrupt. I believe if you play on a major site, like Full Tilt or Poker Stars, you are quite safe. Most of the people who tell you otherwise, are losers. It's that simple. I've met people who have made a small fortune on online poker. I have seen their winnings, and verified their results. You can go to sites like officialpokerrankings.com and see what people are winning. You can check your own ranking, and note that it is reported accurately. People do make money online. There was that 18 year old from Norway who won a lot online, and then took down the first ever WSOP Europe Main Event in real life. Chris Moneymaker turned a $40 online seat, into a $10,000 Main Event seat. He won $2.5m. So like I said, I don't think that major sites need to be rigged. They make a fortune as it is. When it comes to the AP scandal, that was one foolish greedy person, out for himself. The site itself wasn't rigged.
