- Not unless they have the correct license! Why there have been issues with poker rooms recently. The Gambling Commission is cracking down on these 'dens of iniquity'.
- usually next to the bar there will be a license showing what activities the club is licensed for and amounts that can be gambled. Otherwise they must apply for a license.
- When I was in London last year a friend took me to a private club where we played in a Texas Holdem Tournament and had a blast. I belive it was a gambling club, because they also offerred Blackjack and other games. As a guest I had to register a day or two in advance as I recall.
- No because the government are not getting their claws on a cut of it. They need to pay for their Bentley's, stately homes, exotic holidays and butlers, and they can't do it without your money so no you need a licence and pay a tax on it.
