How many cards for 5 draw poker? How many cards should you play 5 draw poker with in relation to the number of players? eg 7s and up for 4 players My bad for not being specific enough. What I mean is, how many cards in the deck should you take out? eg take out the bottom 20 cards for 4 players aka 7s and up. So how many cards should be on the table, in the game, in relation to the number of players??
how can I play poker better? I play poker on a pretty regular basis (5 card draw with jokers to be exact) yet i have a tendency to lose a lot more than I would like. Does anyone have any tips or tricks that could help me do a little better?
How do you play poker pool? I had the opportunity to play this game once while visiting friends in London, Ontario. I know there are commercial versions of the game, but this one was played with a standard deck of cards and a pool table with "8 Ball" or "Boston" pool balls. Each player was dealt a hand, possibly 5 cards, from a reduced deck. The object of the game was to shoot the corresponding pool balls to complete and win your hand. I only played it once and this was several yeas ago. I've tried finding the rules for it in games stores to no avail. Does anyone know how to play poker pool using a standard deck of cards? Thanks.

how do i calculate the odds of being dealt a flush in poker? Tired of playing that game you move onto the poker room. You sit down to play a game where you are dealt 5 cards (A poker hand is dealt from a standard pack of 52 cards consisting of four suits of thirteen ranks). Using MATLAB and the function ‘nchoosek’ show how many possible hands you can be dealt. Being very lucky, the first hand you are dealt contains 5 cards of the same suit. Again using the function ‘nchoosek’, calculate the probability of this event occurring.
Anyone know of any online poker basics tutorials for someone who has NEVER learned? A friend is trying to learn and I don't know that I'm teaching very well, I tried doing a search on yahoo and youtube but everything I'm finding seems to assume you already know how to play 5 card games and are teaching how to play 7 card games like hold 'em. I was thinking something that might illustrate order of hands, basics of betting, maybe even strategy basics for draw games. Simple is key. Pls help, thanks.
What are the different ways of playing poker? The ones I know of are Texas Holdem, 5 Card Draw and Seven Hand Poker. Are there anymore. What else do you need to know about poker? Can you give me tips on how to check if someone is bluffing?
How many types of Poker are there? I like to play Poker with a few of my mates every now and then. Sometimes they will bring some extra people with them which is great! The trouble is some of them play a different way to us, or don't understand the rules to which we play. Is there a universal poker game or set of rules? I.e instead of 2 card draw and 5 card hold-em?
deck of cards probabilty question? Hey all i am playing poker with friends and we have made up our own rules and need to know which hands are harder to get. Therefore i wanted to know how to work out the following questions mathematically. They involve working with a normal deck of 52 cards (no jokers) and playing poker with 5 cards each. If i am given 5 cards out of a possible 52: 1) what is the probability of getting 2 out of 5 cards that have the same suit(means hearts, spades etc) 2) what is the probability of getting 3 cards out of 5 that are consecutive e.g.(234 or JQK) I would like to know the answers to these and also how you work them out please. I have alot more of these type of questions, so if you could give me a method however complicated of working out 5 card possibilities, i will give you the best answer and my wishes. Thanks alot in advance for question 1 it should be 3/5 cards witht the same suit sorry.
How do you calculate the odds of being dealt a specific poker hand? Want to learn how to solve these types of problems for math class. Playing poker against 1 opponent, if you are holding J(s) & 10(h) and the flop is K(s),10(s),J(d). The turn is Q(s). The next card was already burnt, so the next card is the river. What is the probability of hitting a 1)Straight 2)Flush 3)Full house 4)Striaght flush 5)Royal Flush not knowing what cards your opponent has or which cards have been burnt thoughout this hand. Can someone help explain this.?
how can i last in an online no-limit poker tournament? against 5 or six opponents, i can do pretty well, and heads-up i consider myself really solid -- but how can i outlast 200 or even 2000 opponents, many of whom raise all-in constantly? oftentimes i will outlast better than 50% of tourny entrants, but i guess i get complacent and start hanging in with mediocre hands too often, just to keep my interest up. did i just answer my own question? what do the experts say to do to make it to the money, or better yet, to final tables? which are the best books you would recommend on the subject of internet texas hold 'em tournament playing? (i also like to play 5-card draw and 7-card stud.)
About Poker? So I am trying to learn how to play poker. So when the dealer passes you 5 cards, you have to keep them in that order or can you rearrange them?

Straight In 5 card poker? i was playing my mom in 5 card draw poker right ? and i came up to a hand that was joker,king,ace,2,3,4 or king,ace,2,3,4,joker and she said that it was not a straight because it goes high low but we did not mention that in the beginning that we can go high to low so i assumed that we can but technically isn't my hand a straight?
5 card Poker: Card flashed, what are rules? We were playing poker (texas hold'em) the other day, and a player rudely mucked his cards and they flipped over. Not everyone on the table saw the cards. Do the rules/general etiquette of poker state that the cards must be shown to all players, or turned back over and only the people who have seen the cards get the advantage? PLEASE INCLUDE A SOURCE Thank you

What are some creative and fun poker or other card games to play with a group of 6? Heading out of town for a guy's weekend soon with 5 friends and I'm looking for some ideas for some new poker games to play. We'll be trapped in an icehouse for 3 days straight, so there will be a lot of drinking and card playing (with a little fishing mixed in too). We're getting somewhat bored with our standard assortment of Texas Hold'em, In-between, Guts, and 7-card stud. There has got to be a ton of other fun variations out there - any suggestions? We also try to mix in some team cribbage, so any good team games would also be helpful. Thanks! P.S. Money will be involved, so betting rules are important!

How do you play poker with idiots? I just got done playing in a cash game, bought in for around $100 total. I did not feel comfortable playing anyone at the table. I think of myself as a solid player who doesnt play bs cards. I watched a table and a player called 1-8th of his chips with 2-4 suited then called an allin bet to make it like 60 more. Flop had a 4 and 1higher 1 lower with heart draw, they guy only had a pair of 4s and called an allin vs aq hearts. 4th street was a q and it was over. This is BAD POKER. i know that you dont just sit and play the best hands but at a table of 10 in ohio at any charity game its redic. I lost all my money with the best hand preflop 2 times, a k-5 unsuited raised my aq suited and i lost to 555 wtf is that, i dont even bother reraising pre cuz these donkeys call like its nothing. i then lost it all with 99 and a guy had ak, called my 26$ bet into a 34 pot like it was nothing. How can a good poker player win vs DONKEYS, even Phil Ivey would have had trouble winning. peace
Online free poker? Where can I play online free games of 5 card darw poker and such? Without downloads, charges and such? So tired of downloading a game and finding out it's only a sample!
a question about poker? I seen the movie "The Deal", and im intrested in poker, but i just played one online, "High stakes poker", but in the movie, they always play with 2 cards at the end, in the game i played, you had 5 cards at the end? Which poker is more famous? and thats the one with 2 cards?
How well did I play this poker hand? The game is $1-2 No Limit Hold'em. I start in the big blind of $2 with $160. My hand is 8, 5 unsuited. There are four callers for $2 and I check my option to raise. The flop is J, 8, 5. I bet $10 and am raised by a solid player to $25. He has me covered by over $100. A loose newbie player who is stuck $800 in the game calls $25. I re-raise to $60 and both players call The turn card is a 3. I go all-in for $100. The solid player thinks awhile and calls. The loose player also calls. The river is a nine. The solid player bets and the loose player folds. He shows 6,7 for a straight. After the hand, I say that I did not raise enough on the flop to chase him out. He says that he likes to play the same way I did and get his money in good because he was a 4 to 1 underdog. He says he called also because he could see the loose player was going to call also, giving him better odds for the call.
the death of the poker dealer? I was just reading about how hollywood park casino has put in the first electronic poker room, You just buy a card and play with no chips or dealer. I deal poker for a living and i am worried about that in 5-10 years that there may not be a need for poker dealers, and all casinos will be dealt by computers. Am i wrong in this line of thinking? Is my job in danger or am i just worring to much?

What poker variations do you play? Right now, Texas Hold Em is arguably the most popular form of poker, and I believe Omaha, 7 card stud and 5 card draw are still played quite often. Do you play any other variation of poker? If so, what do you play and what do you like about it? I have played a variation called "Anaconda", which is a form of 7 card draw. Each player is dealt 7 cards. One round of betting takes place, and then each player must PASS 3 of his cards to his right. This means if you were dealt a straight, a flush or a full house, your hand just got screwed. After the pass, another round of betting, and then you pass 2 cards. Then another round, pass 1 card, another round and the show down. It's interesting to get, say, 3, 3, 7, 7, A, K, 10 because in that situation, you have two pair, but to keep it you'd be forced to pass 3 high cards to your opponent.
PRECALC PROBABILITY please help!!? You are playing a 5 card poker from an ordinary deck of 52 playing cards. In how many ways can you get a full house? (A full house consists of three of one kind and two of another, for example: 8,8,8,5,5). PLEASE SHOW ME HOW YOU GOT THE ANSWER! THANK YOU
where online can i find PLAY MONEY 7 card stud with online chat? i used to play it years ago at paradise poker but havent for say 3-4 yrs now they seemed to have stopped it and all you get is "freeroll" where you are entered into a tounament playing for real money but costs nothing to enter but i just after a simple game of 7 card stud i understand its big money now and they dont wanna encourage free games but they gotta be out there somewhere i just want to play a game - with chips you know - not cash! even if its 1/2p or .5cent - i dont wanna know - i just want to play the game and it mustnt be holdem either!!!!! ive got images of all the 1000s people from around the world that used to play "play money" poker - even whene there were .5 cent games available (which may as well be play money really) but we were doing it for the sheer fun of playing and it made the games better have they been dragged into playing for money now? lives and homes ruined by a spiral of gambing addiction? where can i PLAY??????
5 Card Draw question? I've been playing a regular $4 and $5 5 Card Draw FL tournie on poker stars and, although I have been able to make it ITM consistently, I have only made the final table once. There are no antes, so the blinds and stakes go up extremely fast (I've dropped from 3rd to 18th in one hand once). All the tournies are short handed (6 max). I'm wondering; what hands are playable and not playable from early, middle and late positions? Considering that at the beginning stage of these tournies the most a single hand can cost you only up to 10% up your chips while at the ITM stage it can cost you all of them, do certain hands become less (or more) playable?
Poker tournaments.? Does anybody know where I can sign up for freeplay (play money) poker tournaments for 5 card draw? I've seen many tournaments online for hold'em, but I'd like 5 card draw better I think..
Shady play or smart play? (Limit 7 Card Stud)? I was playing a heads up table on Full Tilt Poker 5/10 Stud. After observing a player play a couple people he seemed like a tight player. I sat down with a 100 and he switched his money to a 100 to match mine, as I've found conventional for a fair heads up match. After only about 3 hands im dealt two random cards with an ace up, and he has a random low card showing. I decide to complete the bet in order to show strength and he raises and I call. The next card for me is a K, and he has another random card unsuited. I then bet and he calls. Next card was a J, and he gets yet again another random card, I try to push him out again with another bet and he just calls. This goes on while I have all high cards showing until the 7th street, when I bet yet again and get a call. He shows one pair 3's in his hidden initial pocket, and takes down the pot. Was this smart for him to keep calling with no drawing cards and high cards showing on my hand, or does it seem as if he was merely fishing and trying to get lucky, and felt too pot committed? no there was no draw on his board.
What Poker Forums that offer merchandise in exchange for posting? I apologise for asking this question twice. I accidently marked a useless answer as the best one. Please no wisecrack answers. If you you can't help don't answer. I will break this down. I have run across a few poker forum that reward their players for posting. Some offer freerolls to those who post regularly. Like some many posts a week, etc. Some of these also have Stores where you can buy merchandise with points acrued for posting on their forum. Let's say for every post I make I earn 1/5 a point. Those points accumulate over time. After I have built up points I can go to their store and exchance those points for merchandise (poker books, Playing Cards, Poker Chips Sets, etc.) So far I have only found a handful. Now I know there must be more than I have found. I just can't find them through normal searching. If you know of any please post them here. The person who posts the most useful answer will get the best answer reward. Thanks.

B) at most a total of 5? 2.Two cards are drawn in succession from a deck without replacement. What is the probability that both cards are greater than 2 and less than 8? 3.If each coded item in catalog begins with 5 different letters and 3 distinct nonzero digits, find the probability of randomly selection one of these coded items with the first letter a vowel and last digit even? 4.In a high school graduating class of 100 students, 54 studied mathematics, 69 studied history, and 35 studied both mathematics and history. If one of these students is selected at random, find the probability that the student took history but not mathematics? 5.In a poker hand consisting of cards, find he probability of holding 3 aces? 6.In a game of poker where a player is dealt 5 cards from a deck of 53 playing cards (52 cards + 1 joker), what is the probability of getting a full house?

My sister caught the pneomonia virus from playing poker with strangers.? Now she told me she is going to get the vaccine so she doesn't ever get it again. It was very painful for her and she doesn't want to catch it again. If she already had it, why would she need a vaccine? I would think she would never get it again, especially since she is not going to play cards much anymore and when she does she is using a germ killer on her hands. Do you feel she should still get the vaccine? Also, she told me to get it, but I am 71 years old and never had it so far. Also, she said you just need to get it once. Don't you have to get it every 5 years, She is 74 years old.

poker??????? so yeah.. im 16 and me and my friends play cards every weekend for like a 5 dollar game, so is that considered illegal?
Do you have to point out your hand in poker? OK, here's what happened: I was playing poker, and it was 5 of 7 cards or whatever it is when you have to make a hand out of 7 cards. Obviously, I didn't know what I was doing...so I was focused on a full house I had in my hand. When I was called, I laid my cards out and everyone just stared at me. I didn't know what was going on and someone said "Well, what is it?" I had never played poker where I had to point out what I had. I thought the dealer was supposed to call it. Apparently, I had a straight flush and didn't see it, so others at the table called that out to me and this guy FLIPPED OUT because I have to play my own game and call my own hand and no one should be pointing out a better hand to me, even though it was there and I had it...I had to call it myself. He SPLIT the pot with me, but my flush beat what he had. Shouldn't I have won, or do you really have to specifically say what your hand is? Thanks.
poker question? so me and a friend are playing poker. we bet until we showed our cards.the suits didnt matter. he had 2,9. i had 2,5. the 5 community cards were 10,queen,king,2, and six. so we both had a pair of twos, but he said his nine kicker was better than my 5 kicker. but i thought that didn't matter. since u can use 5 cards. we'd both use the pair of twos, and queen, king ,ten. am i right we would tie, or is he right that he won? im pretty sure it was a tie. only people answer who are 100% sure oh yeah were playing texas hold em
For Serious Poker Player Only? I have been playing poker for a while and I haven't figured this out yet. I need to know if you High card is considered what's in your hand only or what's in the community too. For Example who would win this set and why. Player 1 cards 8(di) 10(di) Player 2 cards 8(hr) 9(di) Community Cards 5(di) 5(hr) 6(cl) Q(sp) A(cl) Now both have a 5 pair but I thought that they both also have a Ace High therefore split pot. But the way it was won was Player 1 Won. I didn't understand it Could you please explain why it was played this way. And also leave the number of years you have played. Also is there a site that I could go to for these kinds of problems. My dream is to play on the WPT and I want to be better than the Pros.
Online poker tournament? Looking for a site that has online poker (perferably 7 or 5 card stud), that is free (using play money), and has tournaments where you play with specific people throughout the tournament. Maybe meeting once or twice per week. Thanks.
This is a poker rules question? Last night I was playing poker with some friends and we decided to play a new version of Omaha Hold Em' . We played Omaha with low in your hole wild. So to get to the point I had a Royal Flush with my wild card and my friend had 5 of a kind with 2 wild cards? Who wins, does it just matter on what the house rules are? I said there is no 5 of a kind and they said there is when you play with wild cards. If I am wrong, that's ok I just wanted other opinions on rules??
Math help please....? A poker hand consists of 5 cards dealt from an ordinary deck of 72 playing cards. (a). How many poker hands are possible? (b). How many different hands consisting of three kings and two queens are possible? (c). The hand in part(b) is an example of a full house: 3 cards of one denomination and 2 of another. How many different houses are possible? (d). Calculate the probability of being dealt a full house? oops its 52 cards!!
Life is like a poker game....? I've decided that life is like a game of 5 card stud. You play the cards you're given or fold. Whatever's in your hand is what you get, and you make the best of it. Some people get Royal Flushes (e.g. Bill Gates, The Hiltons, Bono, ect.) Others people have lives more like a pair of 2's ( Katrina victims, people in the Middle-East, whatever) The trick is to play your hand like you're gonna win no matter what the other guy has. Some of us settle for what we've got, and others bluff their ass off. It's all in the game of Life. and God is the dealer.
home poker? my family all sit around the table and play poker. i am looking for some new games to play. we play follow the queen..5's and 10's... seven card no peek etc. can someone give me some new ideas or a link to where i can find some please..

What is the probability of forming a committee that includes at least two mathematicians and at least 1 physicist?
poker people? me and my friend were playing 7 card draw and i got a straight flush and he got a 5 of a kind (were playing with wilds), i know that a straight flush beats a4 of a kind and i dont think that you can use a 5 of a kind.. is there such thing as a 5 of a kind in poker?
Do you feel online poker is fair or rigged? I myself feel it is..I know people will disagree,, I can still win money.. but here is my reasons. 1.) Many times, when I'm not doing well, I sense that I'm going to get screwed and I'm always right.. 2.) Why is it that every time I get heads up in a tournament I get a mad rush of cards, as to hurry up the game.. 3.) Every site I ever signed up to play for I caught mad cards the first day.. Party Poker, Pacific, Poker Champs, Fair Poker,, and the list goes on.. 4.) The first time I played on Fair Poker I must have had pocket aces 5 times, and kings 3 times in the first 2hrs.. Now that is ridiculous.. there are more.. everyone I know says its rigged,, but the people online.. Well when you say the cards balance out in the long run,, your right.. Thats cuz they screw you really bad, then you can't lose a hand.. Obviously there smart enough to realize that.. So they are more deceiving about it.. They get most money when bad players win. Keeps more money on the site..
