Do professional poker players have to deal with groupies and stuff? My husband is pursuing his dream of playing poker, and hopes to one day become a professional poker player, I am a WWE fan and I know that the wrestlers have to deal with "Ring Rat"/groupies, I trust him, I am just trying to prepare myself for what's to come, also, please answer my previous question if you do not mind! Thanks
why are most professional poker players cocky A-holes? I've been playing poker professionally for a little while now and there's one thing i've found out is that most often professional poker players are cocky, arrogant, and just a bunch of A-holes. Now the one thing I havn't been able to figure out is why. I've played against movie stars, professional athletes and the ones I've gone against don't have an attitude like the poker players I play against and the stars i've played against have 10 times more of a reason to be cocky. why are poker players so cocky?
Do professional poker players have 6 sence? How do they make awesome lay down?.I saw one pro on tv made an awesome lay down even though he had the best hand on flop. The other guy catch his card on the turn.He knew ahead of time the other guy will catch his card so he folded on flop.
How much does online poker create players that shame professional poker? I've seen a few clips of pro poker players that are just disgusted with online playes winning or buying into a pro tournament and their play is just awful and sometimes by sheer luck, the online players wins money. Should some respect be shown to actual pros....that if you're stepping into their world, learn the rules, the odds...don't just bet goofy and hope for a hand...actually know what you hold and know how to bet....
What exactly is a professional poker player? I was talking with a new co-worker and she told me that her boyfriend is a professional poker player. I've never heard that before. Everyone that I know who plays poker does it once a week or once a month for fun. I asked her if he plays every day and she said yes. He's 21 years old. I asked if he pays taxes on his winnings like employees do on wages and she said, "well, waitresses don't claim all their tips." Can anyone give me an overview of a career as a professional poker player since I'm clueless? How do they find work? How much do they make? What are the possitives & negatives of such a career? Is it something someone can do their whole life?
How do I become a professional poker player? If I wanted to become a 'professional' poker player, how would I start? Online tournaments? Local tournaments? Is there a place I can go to find more information? Or should I just take my 10k buy in to the main event and hope to make the final table (or at the very least, in the money). I guess I'm just trying to figure out if there is a place where I can gain more information about wanting to take poker seriously rather than just watching it on tv.
How does a professional poker player file taxes? I've made quite a bit of money last year playing cash game poker on the side and I'm thinking of quitting my day job and going full time. How does a professional poker player file taxes and their annual salary? How does the IRS verify the income reported is true? Must you report every cent of your winnings minus the losses?
Poker Players & Gamblers? Why is it that if your winning your a "Professional" Poker Player or Gambler but when your losing your a an "Addict"?Isn't all gambling the same?
Professional Poker Player Cameos in "Casino Royale"? Were any of the poker players in Casino Royale legitimate professionals in cameo roles? Some of the ppl looked vaguely familiar, but maybe I was imagining it. Don't watch that much Poker on TV, but a little bit. Did you recognize any cameos in the movie?
most underrated professional poker player? who do you guys feel is the player(or players) that don't get enough respect from the fan community(not the player community)?...i think the easy answer here is chip reese, but he has gotten more appreciation after winning the inaugural $50k HORSE bracelet...if i had to pick others i would say todd brunson, david singer, and minh ly, and i'm sure many others that i can't think of off the top of my head have to agree that cassidy is a sick player especially at limit hold'em also, nenad medic is very, very good, a name i never even thought of to put up there
Where do "professional" poker players play at? Im learning more about poker to expand my ability to assault casinos, i have been playing in private games with success. I went to a casino to inquire about any tournaments they may be holding since i happened to be there that day. They explained to me that the tournament cost 52 dollars, of which 12 goes straight to the casino!! I was so shocked by this that i begin to question weather playing poker at a casino is feasible to actually expect a profit. That 12$ commission represents something of a 20% disadvantage! I just don't see how any player can hold an edge over other players larger than that so they expect to win money. And what about in the games where they take a rake? like a commission out of every pot. How do you overcome that? Most importantly, how do you KNOW/PROVE that you are expecting to overcome those factors?
When should I become a professional poker player? How much do you think is a good income for me to be making as a pro poker player? I pull in about a grand a month but that is part time with school and stuff... what would u say is a good amount i am also 18 years old.
How Hard is it to become a professional poker player? I have no idea what I want to do as a career, the only thing that seems interesting is living as a poker player. I assume its a profession that millions fail at or become addicted, anybody got any success stories or disaster stories to sway me,
What professional poker player have you met in person? Since you had the opportunity to meet this person, what was the most important question you asked him/her about the game? Was their answer satisfactory and were they enjoyable to be around? LOL Sassy, I am sorry. I hope in the future you meet one that offers you a little more face time. Good answer though!
how do I become a professional poker player? I don't need advice on how to play I've been playing more or less professionally for about 6 months now wether online or offline I have no problem making money and I want to know how I do it legally as a profession so if someone were to look up my credit or something it would say that and how much I make. Any one know how I do that? I don't want to become a professional in the sense of every one knows who I am aka playing in the wsop and making waves or entering a lot of tourny's in vegas and winning there's hundreds of casinos out there I usually play at the chumash in california not far from where I live and average about 1500 a day. I do not need advice on how to become famous or to read a book read them and found them pointless. Even if you win the wsop doesn't make you a professional poker player. Just want to know what I got to do to make it legally my profession.
how do i become a professional poker player? I am currently playing online and am having moderate success playing at low limit buy in tournaments ($8-$150). I have made it to several final tables, yet my best finish is 3rd (1K payout for 3rd). I want to take my game to the next level and start winning consistently. Can anyone out there provide me with reasonable advice???
How does one become a "Professional" Poker player? So sorry Mispiki (or whatever). You are right I am not a good poker player, I am an excellent poker player. Jealous much? Thanks Pokercoach, I have been to your website. Wow! People have no faith in themselves at all, I hope y'all don't have children! "Oh, you're smart little guy, but stick with your McDonald's job, I think your setting your sights to high to be a doctor". I didn't ask for your opinion, I asked how one become a professional player. If you all want to sit around and live a mundane life, be my guest. I on the other hand may have millions to blow on my dream and I plan to NOT take it to the grave with me. Have fun playing on the internet, I am packing my bags for Vegas baby!
TV poker players & taxes? How are the poker players we see on TV taxed on their winnings? I understand professional players are required to file tax returns and pay taxes, but what about the amateurs?
